ROAD ANGEL chosen to provide safety camera data for new TomTom

London, October 29th 2008 – TomTom has launched its most innovative product yet.

The TomTom GO x40 LIVE range delivers dynamic navigation and route guidance that continuously adapts to changing road conditions and always gives drivers the fastest route to a destination.

The TomTom GO x40 LIVE series has plug & play connectivity built in, and comes with a number of valuable information services for motorists.

  • TomTom Safety Alerts provided by ROAD ANGEL including real-time safety camera reporting and sharing, meaning users can keep each other informed about mobile safety cameras.

  • TomTom High Definition Traffic™ service for current traffic information en route, now available for the first time in the UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, as well as in the Netherlands.

  • TomTom Fuel Prices: up-to-date fuel price information guides users to the cheapest fuel stations along their routes or in their area.

  • TomTom unlocks the power of online Local Search with Google. It turns search results into a destination with the press of a button. This gives users access to millions of locations.

The partnership with TomTom demonstrates Road Angel's position as the UK's premier provider of safety camera and blackspot alert systems, testament to the proactive development of the database and continual innovation since the company was established in 2000.

What does this mean for ROAD ANGEL and its customers?

The following FAQ’s are aimed at answering some common questions you might have about this partnership.

1. Are Road Angel still going to be selling and supporting Sat Nav’s?

For the foreseeable future Road Angel will continue to sell premium, connected Sat Nav’s; with the Navigator 9000 still being the most cost effective connected Sat Nav in the UK. Road Angel no longer manufacture the Navigator 6000, 7000 or Adventurer products, however we will continue to honour the warranties supplied with these products and we will endeavour to support customers for the life of these products. Road Angel will not be supporting TomTom Satellite Navigation products.

2. Are the two companies merging ?

No. This is a commercial partnership designed to bring the benefits of Road Angel to a wider audience. Road Angel will continue to offer its own products alongside the TomTom range.

3. Can I upgrade from a Road Angel to a TomTom?

Unfortunately not. Road Angel will not be supplying TomTom products directly so will be unable to offer any discounts for upgrades to the new TomTom products.

4. Can I transfer my subscriptions from my current Road Angel device to a TomTom?

Again unfortunately not as the TomTom subscription is a contract between you and TomTom and includes other services such as HD Traffic and Google search.

5. When and where can I buy the new TomTom units ?

The new Go x40 Live products are available to buy now from all of the usual TomTom outlets i.e. on the high street and online. Road Angel will not be supplying Tom Tom devices or accessories.

6. Is the data on a TomTom the same as my Road Angel?

Yes, it is identical as Road Angel update the TomTom central server every time we update our internal database.
